Spanberger Signs 3 Gun Grabs — All Likely Unconstitutional
Virginia's new governor bans semi-autos, strips 18–20-year-olds of rights, and guts concealed carry — courts are already killing these laws in other states.
She ran as a moderate. She governed like Michael Bloomberg wrote the bills himself — and his money helped put her in that office.
Spanberger wasted zero time. Three bills. Three direct hits on law-abiding Virginians. Here's exactly what just landed on the books:
**Semi-Automatic Firearms Ban.** She went after the most commonly owned rifles and pistols in America. *Heller* protects firearms "in common use." *Bruen* reinforced it. AR-pattern rifles and standard semi-automatic handguns are textbook "common use" — courts have confirmed this repeatedly. **Spanberger signed it anyway.**
**Age Restrictions on 18–20-Year-Olds.** If you're old enough to vote, old enough to wear a uniform and carry an M4 downrange, and old enough to be tried as an adult in a Virginia courtroom — the governor just decided you're not old enough to exercise your Second Amendment rights. Multiple federal circuits have already struck down identical laws. Virginia taxpayers will foot the litigation bill when this one falls too.
**Concealed Carry Crackdown.** The Supreme Court wasn't subtle in *Bruen* (2022): carry rights are real, and any restriction that can't survive the historical tradition test is dead on arrival. Spanberger signed a tighter concealed carry restriction regardless. The word "anyway" is doing a lot of work here — because that's the entire strategy.
This is the gun-grab playbook running exactly as designed: pass it, defend it, delay it, and pray the political winds shift before SCOTUS gets another crack at it. **It's not legislating. It's stalling.**
The NRA-ILA flagged all three bills as unconstitutional and is actively engaged. But lawsuits take months — sometimes years — and while the courts work through the docket, Virginia gun owners wake up every day under laws that are already being struck down in other states with nearly identical language.
Let that sink in. The precedents defeating these laws already exist. Spanberger signed them anyway.
The battleground is Virginia. The clock is running. Contact the NRA-ILA, lock in with your local gun rights organizations, and track every taxpayer dollar Spanberger's administration burns defending the indefensible. When these laws fall — and they will — make sure every Virginian knows exactly who forced them to fight for rights they never should have lost.
**Watch this space.** The first legal challenge filing is the next domino — and when it drops, WTF News will have it.
