SOF Warriors Deserve Carry Rights: Harrigan's Bill Delivers

NC congressman's new bill grants federal concealed carry to special operations troops and vets who outshoot most cops

WTF News April 24, 2026 📖 2 min read

Rep. Pat Harrigan (NC-10) introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act, granting federal concealed carry authority to active and veteran special operations forces across all 50 states.

These are the men who hunted terrorists in Fallujah, Kandahar, and Mogadishu. Green Berets. SEALs. Rangers. Delta operators. America's most lethal warriors — and some states currently demand they beg a bureaucrat's permission to defend themselves.

Harrigan, a combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient, knows exactly what he's fighting for. His bill recognizes what common sense already confirms: when your marksmanship and firearms training exceed federal law enforcement standards, a state permit requirement is nothing but a political obstacle.

The legislation mirrors the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), which already grants nationwide carry rights to qualified active and retired law enforcement. SOF operators train harder, shoot more, and operate in more dangerous environments than virtually any police force on earth. No logical justification exists for excluding them.

Anti-gun state governments in California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey have spent years building permit walls to keep law-abiding citizens disarmed. This bill bulldozes those walls — at least for the warriors who bled to protect the freedom those politicians keep trying to strip away.

The bill also covers veteran SOF members, recognizing that the skills and discipline these operators carry don't expire when their enlistment does. A retired Navy SEAL doesn't forget how to handle a firearm safely because he moved to a blue state.

This is exactly the pro-Second Amendment legislation Congress should pass — targeted, logical, and impossible to argue against without exposing your true agenda.

Contact your representative today and demand they co-sponsor the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act. If Congress won't stand behind its warriors, those warriors deserve to stand armed behind themselves.
