SOF Vets Deserve to Carry — Harrigan's Bill Says So

NC Congressman's bill grants federal concealed carry rights to elite special operations veterans — no blue-state permission slip required

WTF News April 26, 2026 📖 2 min read

Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) just introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act, and it's long overdue.

Harrigan's bill extends federal concealed carry authority to both active-duty and veteran special operations forces — warriors whose marksmanship and firearms training standards exceed virtually every law enforcement qualification in the country.

Harrigan is a combat veteran and former Army Ranger. He knows firsthand what these operators are capable of. He didn't write this bill from a think tank or a focus group. He wrote it from experience.

Under current law, the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) grants qualified law enforcement officers nationwide concealed carry privileges. SOF veterans — people who trained harder, deployed longer, and faced more lethal threats than most cops will ever encounter — get no such federal recognition. That's backwards.

Anti-gun governors in states like California, New York, and Illinois have spent years making it nearly impossible for law-abiding citizens to carry. A decorated Delta Force veteran shouldn't find himself disarmed the moment he crosses a state line into hostile political territory.

Harrigan's bill fixes that. It treats SOF warriors with the respect they earned and recognizes that their training and discipline make them exactly the kind of armed citizens the Second Amendment was designed to protect.

This legislation won't arm criminals. It will arm the most vetted, most trained, most battle-tested human beings this nation has ever produced — the same men and women anti-gun politicians cheered at homecoming ceremonies.

AG Todd Blanche and the Trump administration should throw their full weight behind this bill and push it through Congress without delay. Every day it sits in committee is another day an SF vet gets treated like a threat instead of a hero.

Contact your representative today and demand they cosponsor the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act. These warriors kept you free — make sure they can protect themselves.
