SOF Vets Deserve Carry Rights — Harrigan's Bill Delivers

NC Congressman's new bill extends federal concealed carry to Special Operations forces, active and veteran

WTF News April 26, 2026 📖 2 min read

Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act, extending federal concealed carry authority to both active-duty and veteran special operations personnel — warfighters whose firearms proficiency and marksmanship standards leave most civilian shooters in the dust.

Harrigan, a combat veteran and Special Forces officer himself, didn't mince words. These are the men and women Washington sends to do the impossible, then strips of carry rights the moment they cross state lines or hang up the uniform.

Current federal law leaves a patchwork nightmare for veterans. A Green Beret who spent two decades mastering every weapons system known to mankind can return home and find himself at the mercy of whatever anti-gun governor decided his state doesn't trust him with a pistol.

That's not just insulting — it's dangerous. Criminal violence doesn't check zip codes, and it doesn't wait for bureaucratic permission slips.

Harrigan's bill cuts through that absurdity. If the federal government trusted these operators enough to conduct the most sensitive and lethal missions on earth, Congress can at minimum recognize their right to defend themselves and their families at home.

Special Operations veterans represent the gold standard of firearms training in the world — period. This is exactly the common-sense, pro-Second Amendment legislation that should sail through both chambers.

Contact your representative today and demand they co-sponsor the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act. America's elite veterans kept us safe downrange — it's time we make sure they can stay safe at home.
