National Rifle Association v. Moore landed in Maryland federal court the same day Moore signed SB 334.

Governor Wes Moore signed Maryland Senate Bill 334 on May 26. Before the ink dried, the National Rifle Association, Second Amendment Foundation, and Firearms Policy Coalition filed National Rifle Association v. Moore in U.S. District Court.

The law bans what Maryland calls machine-gun-convertible pistols — a category that sweeps in most striker-fired handguns on the market, including Glock-pattern pistols Marylanders already own, carry, and sell through FFLs.

Sales and transfers inside the state halt January 1, 2027. Violations carry up to three years and a $5,000 fine. Moore and Democratic sponsors framed the bill around Glock switches — devices already illegal under federal law.

The coalition's complaint follows the same Bruen logic that killed may-issue carry and vacated ATF overreach: handguns in common use for lawful purposes cannot be deleted from the marketplace because criminals misuse separate illegal parts.

Maryland is copying California's AB 1127 playbook. Gavin Newsom signed a parallel ban in October 2025. Jaymes v. Bonta is already in federal court. Moore just invited the same litigation team into Annapolis.

Watch for a preliminary-injunction motion this summer. Fund SAF and FPC if you are a Maryland FFL — inventory documentation now beats panic in December.
