Green Berets Can't Carry in NYC — This Vet's Bill Ends That

Rep. Pat Harrigan (R-NC) — a former Special Forces officer who actually wore the uniform — has introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act, a bill granting nationwide concealed carry rights to qualified special operators, both active-duty and honorably discharged.

No state override. No permission slip from a Democratic attorney general. A federal right.

The bill defines a "qualified special operator" by paygrade: E5 through E9, W1 through W5, and O1 through O10. In plain English, that means Special Forces, Delta Force, Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders, and the NCOs and combat medics who keep those units breathing downrange.

The same federal government that sends them into harm's way with a rifle and a classified mission turns around and tells a retiring Delta Force sergeant he has to beg Gavin Newsom's bureaucrats for permission to defend his family in California. That is not a loophole in the law. That is a moral failure dressed up as policy.

Harrigan is not working from a think-tank memo. He served in the 10th Special Forces Group and the 75th Ranger Regiment. He has lived the gap this bill closes.

The moment this legislation gains traction, the gun-control lobby will call it a "loophole." What they mean is: they would rather Green Berets be disarmed in blue states than admit their carry restrictions were never about safety. They were always about control.
