Green Berets Can't Carry at the Grocery Store. This Bill Fixes That.

Rep. Pat Harrigan's SOF Concealed Carry Act would give elite warriors the same nationwide carry rights already handed to retired cops.

Rep. Pat Harrigan (NC-10) has had enough.

The combat veteran and congressman — whose district includes Fort Liberty, home of the Army's Special Forces — just introduced the **Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act**: legislation that would extend federal concealed carry authority to active-duty and veteran SOF members nationwide.

Think about what that gap looks like in practice. A retired Navy SEAL lands at LAX. He has more trigger time than every cop in the terminal combined. His firearms training is arguably the most rigorous on the planet. And right now, in most states, he has *fewer* carry rights than the mall security guard checking bags at the door.

**That's not a gun safety policy. That's an insult.**

Federal law already solves this problem — for law enforcement. The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) lets retired cops carry concealed in all 50 states. Harrigan's bill applies the exact same logic to Green Berets, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, and Delta Force operators: professionals who train daily with firearms under conditions most Americans will never face, whose marksmanship standards obliterate anything any civilian licensing scheme requires.

If a retired beat cop can carry nationwide, a retired Special Forces operator damn well should be able to as well.

Harrigan isn't grandstanding. He's not a think-tank staffer who discovered veterans are a useful photo op. He served. He represents the people this bill is written for. He knows exactly what it costs when elite warriors come home and find themselves caught in a broken patchwork of 50 different state gun laws just to carry a pistol to the gas station.

And here's the part that should make every gun owner's blood pressure spike: the same anti-gun politicians who parade veterans in front of cameras at every convenient press conference go stone-cold silent when it comes to *actually* trusting those veterans with their Second Amendment rights. The crowd that never stops lecturing America about "gun safety" has never once encountered a safer, more responsible firearms handler than a Special Operations veteran.

They don't have an answer for that contradiction. **They're hoping you won't notice it.**

This bill deserves fast-track co-sponsorship. Veterans' groups, pro-2A organizations, and every gun owner with a phone should be calling their representative today and demanding they sign on.

Our most elite warriors earned this right in blood and sacrifice. It is long past time Congress stopped treating them like a liability the moment they step off the plane.

**Call your congressman now. Demand they co-sponsor the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act. Watch which names sign on — and which ones go quiet.**
