Green Berets Can Storm Kandahar—But Not Carry in California?
SOF veteran-turned-congressman Harrigan drops a bill to end the insult: federal carry rights for America's most elite warriors, in every state.
Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) introduced the **Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act**, a bill extending federal concealed carry authority to active-duty and veteran special operations members who already meet the most demanding firearms training and marksmanship standards on earth.
Read that again. The most vetted, most trained trigger-pullers the United States military produces—men and women who ran direct-action raids in Kandahar and Mosul—can be disarmed the moment they cross into a gun-grabbing state or hang up the uniform. No permit. No carry. No rights.
**That is not a policy. That is an insult.**
Harrigan isn't legislating from a think tank or a law firm. He came from the Teams. He knows firsthand what SOF selection, qualification pipelines, and operational experience actually look like—and he knows exactly how far they exceed anything a standard CCW course or state licensing board could ever demand.
The logic of this bill is airtight. If your training and marksmanship already surpass every state and federal certification standard in existence, no government—state or federal—has a legitimate argument for stripping your carry right at a border or at retirement. This isn't a handout. It's recognition of competence that already exists.
Think about what these operators endured to earn that competence: years of selection, schools, deployments, and qualifications most people couldn't survive a week of. Then they come home, and New York or California treats them like a presumptive criminal for wanting to protect their family at the supermarket.
**The hypocrisy would be funny if it weren't so dangerous.**
No co-sponsors or Senate companion bill have been announced yet—and that's exactly the pressure point. Every pro-2A lawmaker in Washington should be sprinting to attach their name to this. The ones who don't have explaining to do.
The Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act is the kind of bill that should pass with 400 votes and zero debate. Whether it does depends on whether the people who support these warriors make enough noise to drown out the gun-grabbers who'd rather see a decorated Green Beret disarmed than admit their carry laws are a farce.
**Watch this bill.** If it stalls in committee, you'll know exactly which members of Congress value anti-gun optics over the men and women who bled for this country. And when co-sponsors start signing on—or refusing to—WTF News will have the names.
