Congress Moves to Arm Special Ops Vets in All 50 States

New House bill strips anti-gun states of power to disarm America's elite warriors

WTF News April 26, 2026 📖 2 min read

The House just introduced legislation that does exactly what common sense demands: grant nationwide concealed carry authority to active-duty special operations personnel and veterans who served in those units.

These are men and women trained to the highest combat standards on earth. The same operators politicians dispatch to neutralize threats abroad get legally disarmed the moment they cross into New York, New Jersey, or Illinois. That's not a safety policy. That's an insult.

Law enforcement officers already enjoy nationwide carry privileges under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA). This bill applies that same logic to special operators — Green Berets, SEALs, Rangers, Recon Marines, and their veteran counterparts who spent careers mastering weapons handling and threat assessment. If a more qualified class of concealed carriers exists anywhere on the planet, we'd like to meet them.

Anti-gun states have spent years constructing legal walls to keep law-abiding citizens disarmed the moment they cross a state line. This legislation drives a truck through those walls — and does it with an argument even the most committed gun-grabbers struggle to counter publicly.

Expect Bloomberg's astroturf machine and Everytown to work the phones on Capitol Hill, pressuring members to water down or kill the bill in committee. They'll dress it up as concern about "screening" and "oversight." Translation: they fear the precedent of federal law overriding state carry restrictions, because that precedent has a name — national reciprocity — and it terrifies them.

This bill is a beachhead. A win here builds the legal and political architecture for full national concealed carry reciprocity for every law-abiding American.

Call your House rep today. Tell them to co-sponsor this bill — and then tell them you want the same right extended to every responsible gun owner in America, because the Second Amendment doesn't have a state line.
