Spanberger Signed 10 Gun Laws in 30 Days. Most Virginians Never Saw It Coming.

The governor's office calls it 'common-sense reform.' The text of the bills says something very different.

Abigail Spanberger ran for governor promising moderation. What she delivered in her first month in office was a ten-bill package that imported every failed New York and New Jersey restriction into the Commonwealth — and she did it fast, before the organized pushback could form.

The headline items are the ones you'd expect: a magazine cap, a new 'assault weapons' definition that sweeps in common modern sporting rifles, a permit-to-purchase requirement for handguns, and an 'age-up' to 21 for everything above a shotgun. Those will fight it out in federal court under Bruen, and there is a real chance most of them lose.

The ones that should scare you most are the quiet ones. A new mental-health reporting pipeline that flags veterans who sought VA counseling — without a hearing, without notice, without a way to challenge it before your name is already in the NICS denial pile. A 'secure storage' statute that turns your own lawful self-defense firearm into a misdemeanor if a burglar steals it from a safe. A rewrite of 'sensitive places' so expansive it includes any building where a municipality has ever held a public meeting.

This is the Newsom playbook, and every blue-state governor is watching to see if it works. The SAF, FPC, GOA and the VCDL have already filed. That litigation is going to be expensive, multi-year, and brutal — and it only wins if gun owners fund it. Spanberger is counting on you being too busy, too distracted, or too convinced that 'the courts will fix it' to pay attention.

The courts only fix it if somebody pays to get there. Now would be the time.

"Ten bills. Thirty days. Zero hearings that anyone actually heard about. That isn't reform — it's ambush."
