Retired SEALs Can't Carry. Retired Cops Can. One Vet Is Fixing It.

Combat-wounded Ranger Rep. Pat Harrigan just dropped a bill to give elite SOF veterans the same federal carry rights cops have had for years.

That is not a quirk of the law. That is the law — and Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) just introduced the legislation to kill it.

Harrigan, a former Army Ranger wounded in combat, dropped the **Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act** this week — a bill that extends federal concealed carry authority to both active and veteran SOF members nationwide. Green Berets. SEALs. Delta operators. Rangers. The most thoroughly screened, trained, and lethal trigger-pullers in human history.

Right now, every single one of them has to navigate a state-by-state patchwork nightmare crafted by politicians who've never held anything more dangerous than a fountain pen.

Harrigan's fix is elegant. The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act — known as LEOSA — already grants retired law enforcement officers a federal carry pass good in all 50 states. His bill applies that same authority to SOF veterans who separated honorably and meet the training and conduct standards written into the legislation.

**The standards these warriors already hold dwarf what LEOSA requires. By a mile.**

Think about what that disparity actually means. A retired master sergeant who spent twenty years running direct-action raids, surviving ambushes, and keeping classified nuclear assets out of enemy hands cannot legally carry when he crosses into California or New York. The retired patrol officer who worked a desk his last eight years? Federally protected. Everywhere.

That is not a policy disagreement. That is an insult wearing the mask of policy.

Harrigan brings something rare to this fight: skin in the game. His service with the 75th Ranger Regiment and his combat wounds aren't a campaign bio line — they're the lived testimony that makes this injustice impossible to look away from.

Anti-gun state governments in California, New York, and Illinois have spent years stacking concealed carry restrictions like sandbags against law-abiding citizens. Those same walls now trap the warriors those same politicians applaud at Memorial Day ceremonies. The men and women once trusted with classified missions, their teammates' lives, and the full weight of American national security — disarmed the moment they cross the wrong state line.

**Let that land.**

The bill needs co-sponsors. Your congressman's name should be on it. Call the office. Ask directly: will they stand with the warriors who stood for all of us — or will they side with the politicians who want elite veterans treated like suspects?

If they hesitate, you have your answer. And so does every voter in their district.

Watch this bill. If the anti-gun caucus moves to kill or bury it in committee, WTF News will be there — and so should you.
