NRA Declared Victory — Your SBR Is Still on a Federal List
Texas Gun Rights exposes the gap between the NRA's Houston comeback story and the suppressor/SBR registry that didn't move one inch.
Texas Gun Rights isn't celebrating. And after you read this, you won't be either.
In a surgical new analysis, TXGR lays out the case: the NRA's much-publicized housekeeping fixed the organization's finances — not your rights. Suppressors and short-barreled rifles remain locked inside the National Firearms Act's tax-and-registration framework, exactly where they were before Houston. Congress didn't move them. The NRA didn't demand they move them. The press releases went out anyway.
**A clean balance sheet is not a strategy. It's a distraction.**
Here's the history they don't put in the press release: the NFA wasn't written to make America safer. Congress engineered it in 1934 as a backdoor prohibition scheme — pile on enough taxes and registration hurdles and ownership becomes practically impossible. It worked on machine guns. That same mechanism still coils around your suppressor and your 14.5-inch barrel right now, today, in 2025.
Leaving that infrastructure standing doesn't reform the system. It hands your opponents a loaded weapon to pick back up the moment the political winds shift.
TXGR's argument cuts straight to bone: a partial win that leaves the structure intact is just a delayed loss. Every SBR owner is still a name on a federal list. Every suppressor buyer still writes a check to the ATF. The process — the chokehold — didn't change. Only the talking points did.
**You are still registered. The government still has your name. That is not a win.**
The timing here is everything. Republicans hold Congress and the White House — the rarest alignment gun owners get. Full NFA repeal, or at absolute minimum the delisting of suppressors and SBRs, has to happen in this window. If it doesn't move now, it gets buried for years. Every month the framework survives intact is another month it's available to be weaponized by the next administration that hates you.
Watered-down wins photograph well. They do not protect your property, your rights, or your name on a list that was never supposed to exist in a free country.
Demand full NFA reform — repeal or delisting, nothing less — from every organization and every elected official claiming to represent the Second Amendment. Cleaned-up books don't erase a federal registry. Contact your representatives now and make the ask explicit: half-measures don't cut it, and the clock is running.
Watch this space. The fight over what actually counts as a win in this Congress is just heating up — and WTF News will be on every move.
