Harrigan Bill Gives Special Ops Nationwide Carry Rights
The Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act ends the patchwork of state laws that disarm America's elite warfighters off-duty
Harrigan, a combat veteran and North Carolina Republican, introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act, a bill that extends nationwide concealed carry rights to active-duty and honorably discharged special operators across all branches of the U.S. military.
The legislation covers Army Special Forces, Delta Force, Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders, and Air Force special operations personnel — at paygrade E5 through the highest officer ranks.
Consider what that means. These are the same warriors the Pentagon trusts with classified missions, advanced weapons systems, and America's most sensitive national security operations. Bureaucrats have been handing them a permission slip requirement just to carry a pistol at the grocery store.
Harrigan knows this world firsthand. He served as an Army Ranger and lost both legs in Afghanistan. He didn't go to Congress to play politics — he went to fix exactly this kind of insanity.
The bill cuts through the patchwork nightmare of state-by-state carry laws that currently forces special operators to either go unarmed or risk felony charges simply by crossing a state line. Criminal violence doesn't check zip codes. Neither should a Green Beret's right to defend himself and his family.
This isn't a radical idea. The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act already gives qualified active and retired cops nationwide carry rights. Special Forces operators face the same — often greater — threat profiles from foreign adversaries and domestic criminals who target military personnel.
Congress needs to fast-track this bill now.
If you believe the warriors who protect this nation deserve the same rights as the citizens they defend, contact your representative today and demand they co-sponsor the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act.
