Harrigan Bill Gives Special Ops Fighters Nationwide Carry Rights

The Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act ends state-by-state infringement for America's most elite warriors — no exceptions.

Rep. Pat Harrigan is done tolerating that disgrace.

Harrigan, a combat veteran and North Carolina Republican, introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act to fix this absurdity once and for all. The bill grants concealed carry rights to active-duty and honorably discharged special operators spanning paygrades E5 through E9, warrant officers, and commissioned officers across all branches.

That means Green Berets, Delta Force operators, Navy SEALs, Force Recon Marines, and the medics and NCOs who serve alongside them. These are the men and women we send to do the jobs nobody else can — and anti-gun state legislatures strip their carry rights the moment they cross state lines.

Harrigan knows this world firsthand. He served as an Army Ranger before running for Congress, and he didn't draft this bill from a committee room fantasy. He's fixing a real problem that real operators face every single day.

Consider what this means in practice. A Delta Force sergeant with three combat deployments moves to New Jersey or California. The same government that handed him a rifle and a classified mission suddenly decides he can't be trusted with a concealed handgun to protect his family. That's not a policy — that's an insult.

The bill cuts through the patchwork of state-by-state infringement that has left elite operators legally defenseless in their own country. No means-testing, no arbitrary local permitting bureaucracies, no waiting period theater. If you served at the tip of the American spear, you carry.

Acting AG Todd Blanche and the Justice Department should line up behind this bill immediately. These operators already hold security clearances, passed some of the most rigorous vetting in the federal government, and demonstrated battlefield judgment under fire. There is zero legitimate argument against this legislation — only the usual anti-gun bad faith dressed up as concern.

This is exactly what Congress should be doing. Contact your representative today and demand they co-sponsor the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act. Our warriors earned this right in blood — it's time Washington delivered.
