GOP Bill: Let Special Forces Carry Nationwide

Legislation would override state restrictions for America's elite warriors

WTF News April 24, 2026 📖 2 min read

New legislation would grant nationwide concealed carry privileges to active-duty special operations personnel and eligible veterans, effectively telling anti-gun states like California and New York that their restrictive permit schemes don't apply to America's most highly trained warriors.

According to Newsweek, the Act would override "state-level restrictions that can differ significantly from one jurisdiction to another." Translation: no more worrying whether your New Hampshire permit is valid when you drive through Massachusetts.

The absurdity of the current system cannot be overstated. These are operators who have undergone some of the most rigorous firearms training on the planet. They've carried weapons in combat zones from Afghanistan to Syria. Yet under current law, a Navy SEAL visiting family in New Jersey could face felony charges for carrying the same sidearm he used to take out terrorists.

This bill follows the same constitutional logic as the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, which already allows qualified current and retired law enforcement to carry concealed nationwide. If we trust cops to carry across state lines, we should absolutely extend the same recognition to special operators.

Critics will predictably claim this "undermines state sovereignty" or some similar nonsense. But the Second Amendment doesn't stop at state borders, and neither should the rights of those who've sworn to defend it.

The legislation faces an uphill battle in Congress, but it highlights a growing recognition that America's concealed carry laws are a confusing, unconstitutional mess. What special forces members need today, every law-abiding American deserves tomorrow.

Gun owners should contact their representatives and demand support for this common-sense measure. If anyone has earned the right to carry anywhere in America, it's the quiet professionals who've put everything on the line for this country.
