Delta Force Vets Can't Carry in Every State. Harrigan's Fix Is Here.

A Purple Heart Green Beret just introduced the bill that puts SOF operators on equal footing with retired cops—nationwide, no asterisks.

Rep. Pat Harrigan (NC-10) has introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act—legislation that extends federal concealed carry authority to active-duty and veteran special operations forces: the most rigorously screened, trained, and combat-tested firearms professionals this country produces.

Delta operators. SEAL Teams. Green Berets. Rangers. These are men and women who qualified under standards that make a standard concealed carry course look like a parking lot safety briefing. Their marksmanship and judgment have been pressure-tested in live-fire combat conditions most Americans will never see.

**And yet a patchwork of jurisdictional red tape can strip them of the right to carry the moment they cross a state line or hang up the uniform.**

Harrigan's bill closes that gap—cleanly and without apology. It aligns federal carry statutes with the undeniable reality that SOF personnel, active or veteran, already meet and exceed any training threshold a lawmaker could dream up.

The precedent is sitting right there. LEOSA—the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act—already grants retired law enforcement officers federal carry authority across all fifty states. SOF operators train harder, deploy farther, and face threats that don't vanish when their enlistment ends. They deserve at minimum the same protection we extend to retired cops. Arguing otherwise isn't a policy position. It's an embarrassment.

Harrigan isn't a bystander cosplaying as a veteran's advocate. He is a Special Forces combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient who lived the gap this bill closes. That matters on Capitol Hill—because this bill will face the full machinery of anti-gun obstruction, and it needs a sponsor who can take the fire.

The bill still has to clear committee, attract Senate companions, and survive the predictable resistance from members who've never earned a weapons qualification badge but love telling warriors what they can and can't carry. **That gauntlet is real.** But Harrigan has handed gun-control Democrats a politically radioactive vote: go on record opposing carry rights for Delta Force veterans, or get out of the way.

Watch who blinks.

**The closer:** This is the kind of clean, defensible, morally airtight legislation that exposes exactly what the gun-control movement is really about—control, not safety. A vote against the SOF Concealed Carry Act is a vote to leave America's most elite warriors defenseless on American soil. Remember every name that casts it.

Call your representative and your senators today. Tell them the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act deserves a floor vote—and that you are watching. The roll call is coming. So are we.
