Congress Moves to Arm Special Ops Vets Nationwide

New House bill strips state carry restrictions for special operations personnel and their veterans

WTF News April 25, 2026 📖 2 min read

The House legislation grants nationwide concealed carry authority to active-duty special operations personnel and their veteran counterparts. These are the men and women who ran raids in Kandahar and Mosul, and right now some blue-state politician thinks they need to beg New Jersey or California for a carry permit.

Let that sink in. A Navy SEAL with 15 combat deployments can be legally disarmed the moment he lands at Newark Liberty International. This bill ends that.

The legislation cuts straight through the patchwork of anti-carry laws that politicians like California Governor Gavin Newsom and New York Governor Kathy Hochul have weaponized against law-abiding gun owners for decades. Special operators log more training hours on firearms than most law enforcement officers will accumulate in an entire career.

If any class of American has earned the unobstructed right to keep themselves and those around them safe from criminal violence, it's the warriors who volunteered to stand between this nation and its enemies.

This bill also sets a powerful precedent. If Congress acknowledges that elite veterans deserve carry rights free from state interference, the logical next step is the Constitutional Carry reciprocity that every law-abiding American deserves. The Second Amendment doesn't include an asterisk reading "unless you live in a restrictive state."

Critics will squawk about "loopholes" and "dangerous weapons on our streets." Ignore them. They said the same thing about every pro-Second Amendment advance in the last 30 years — and criminal violence didn't spike. It dropped wherever carry rights expanded.

Contact your House representative today and demand they co-sponsor this bill. Then call your senators and tell them to have a companion bill ready the moment this one passes. Our veterans didn't earn second-class citizenship.
