ATF Still Targeting Braced Pistols — Won't Say Which
Biden's brace rule is dead, but the ATF is still prosecuting owners — and refusing to say who's next.
The ATF is playing a gotcha game with American gun owners, and it won't even tell you the rules.
Biden's pistol brace rule got torched — but don't holster your outrage yet. According to Gun Owners of America, the ATF is still enforcing NFA and Gun Control Act regulations against certain braced pistols even after the rule's collapse. The agency just won't tell anyone which ones.
GOA pressed the ATF directly for clarity on which braced configurations remain in the agency's crosshairs. The ATF refused to answer. Worse, the agency hinted that gun owners may not discover their firearm is considered illegal until federal prosecutors are already at the door.
Let that sink in. The ATF — a federal law enforcement agency funded by your tax dollars — is deliberately keeping law-abiding gun owners in the dark about what they can legally own. That's not regulatory ambiguity. That's a trap.
This is the same agency that spent years harassing millions of Americans over a piece of plastic designed to help disabled veterans shoot more comfortably. The same agency that invented the brace-as-stock classification out of thin air, weaponizing bureaucratic redefinition against peaceable citizens.
Acting AG Todd Blanche has made noise about reining in rogue federal agencies. Here's his chance to prove it. The ATF must issue explicit, written, public guidance on braced pistols — now. Not buried in a Federal Register notice six months from now. Now.
Gun owners who invested in braced pistols based on years of the ATF's own approval letters deserve certainty, not a federal ambush. The Second Amendment carries no asterisk reading "unless the ATF changes its mind and forgets to tell you."
If your braced pistol was legal yesterday, you deserve to know if it's legal today — in plain English, in writing, before charges are filed.
Contact Acting AG Blanche's office and demand the ATF issue immediate public guidance on braced pistol compliance. Your rights shouldn't depend on whether a federal agent is having a bad day.
